Thoughtful testing follows a clinical question
From the CMO
Dear Colleague,
As classrooms, fall sports and shared indoor spaces bring patients together again, respiratory complaints become both more common and more complex. We are all aware that different pathogens can cause patients to present with similar symptoms. A patient’s objective is to feel better faster. Following your interview and exam, you formulate a preliminary diagnosis. Often, Point-of-Care Testing increases your diagnostic accuracy. Other times, broader syndromic testing and antibiotic resistance insights are needed for the best outcomes. This monthly note will share concise clinical perspectives for outpatient infectious disease complaints across the settings we serve. I welcome your questions, cases and suggestions for future topics. —Dr. Steve Goldberg, MD, MBA
