HealthTrackRx Trend Update

As the month of April concludes, we look back at the previous month’s respiratory trends to see the overall respiratory season winds down as most respiratory viruses have experienced a significant decline. Notably, the decline is largely driven by the receding presence of seasonal heavyweights like Influenza and RSV.

In contrast, Rhinovirus has begun to rise again, now representing the most prevalent circulating pathogen with a 42.7% positivity rate ending the week of April 19th.

While several other viruses have demonstrated relative stability, other pathogens in addition to Rhinovirus/Enteroviruses have risen in positivity rates over April, which include Human Metapneumovirus and Parainfluenza viruses (types 1-4).

Monitoring these changing trends is essential for clinicians as they manage patient presentations that increasingly deviate from traditional winter illness expectations.
